Introduction:

This article will show you step-by-step instructions on How to Fix LED Turn Signal Hyper Flash with load resistor in a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. Due to most LEDs low current technology, vehicles may be unable to detect the LED bulbs correctly. Adding a 50W-6ohm load resistor for turn signal application can remove common issues such as error code, hyper-flashing or flickering. 

Compatible Vehicles: 

50watts 6ohm universal load resistor is compatible with most vehicles and follow general installation process. Vehicles may vary. It is recommended to verify details beforehand. Vehicle used in video is a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Tools Needed for Installation:

A Philips head screwdriver, a pair of pliers and a drill.

 

The Following Information shows step by step the installation instructions on how to install a load resistor for turn signal application when upgrading to LED turn signals. 

How to Fix LED Turn Signal Hyper Flash 

Step #1: Remove the taillight assembly using the Phillips head screwdriver

Step #2: Turn counter-clockwise to unlock and remove bulb

Step #3: Gently prying the t-tap that comes with the load resistors 

Step #4: Find the target circuit. Positive and ground turn signal wires

Step #5: Add a t-tap to each wire coming out of the turn signal

Tip: tap the middle of the wire to leave enough wire running to the socket. 

Step #6: Insert one end of the resistor wire into the opened end of the t-tap

 Resistor do not have polarity.

Step #7: Squeeze the t-tap with pliers to lock it all in and close the cap

Step #8: Do the same with the other t-tap

Step #9: Return the turn signal socket back into the housing and lock it

Step #10: Measure where you can mount the resistor

The resistor metal bar will get very hot. So, it’s important to mount it in something metal and or away from any wires or plastic. Use caution, when LED bulbs are in use, resistors will generate heat via the metal bar. Operating temperature of load resistors is 250°F

Step #11: Screw the resistor into place

Step #12: Test the lights and the resistor

To test the resistor, gently touch it to feel if it gets warm. But careful, it can get very hot. 

Step #13: Put back the light assembly

Step #14: Move on to the other side and repeat prior steps
