Introduction: Fix Brake Light bulb Error Code
Fix Brake Light bulb Error Code. Error code on dashboard or brake lights don’t turn on turn off are fairly common issues when brake lights are newly upgraded to LED lights. If your car experiences any of these issues, it is due to the low power consumption that LED bulbs draw compared to stock halogen bulbs. Which means your car’s computer system believes there is a outage. To solve these problems, we suggest installing a 50 watt 6ohm load resistors in each LED brake light bulb.
Compatible Vehicles:
50watts 6ohm universal load resistor is compatible with most vehicles. Vehicle used in our video is a 2013 Ford Focus
Tools Needed for Installation:
Flathead screwdriver and pliers
The Following Information shows step by step the installation instructions on how to install universal load resistors to Fix Brake Light bulb Error Code when upgraded to LEDs.
Step #1 Remove tail light assembly
Step #2: Unplug the assembly from the car
Step #3 Turn counter-clockwise to remove brake light bulb
Step #4: Find a spot under the housing to install the resistor
Keep in mind the resistor heat sink (for an ALLA Lighting resistor, the heat sink is a Gold Yellow Metal Bar) will get very hot and is recommended to not make contact with any plastic and or wires. So mounting it in a spot (such as a metal frame) that will not touch any wires or plastic is critical.
Step #5: Identify the target brake light circuit – positive and ground wires
Step #6: Unwind some of the wire to mount the resistor further down the line
Step #7: Open one t-taps (T-crimp connectors) with a plier
Step #8: Feed a section of the factory ground wire into the t-tap opening (that has the opening on the side) and one end of the Load resistor red wire into the remaining opening on the t-tap. Secure Connection.
Step #9: Grab a section of the factory positive wire and feed it into another t-tap opening (that has the opening on the side) and one end of the Load resistor red wire into the remaining opening on the t-tap. Secure Connection.
Step #10: Put the socket back into the housing and make sure there is enough wire.
Step #12: Mount the resistor
Step #13: Follow the same steps for the other resistor wire
Step #14: Replace the bulb back into the socket and insert the socket
Step #15: Test the lights before putting everything back
Step #16: Install back the assembly
Step #16: Follow prior steps to install resistor on the other side
