Introduction: 2013-2022 Chevy Malibu
This blog will explain step by step how to replace the back-up reverse bulbs in a 2013-2022 Chevy Malibu. The vehicle used for demonstration is a 2022 Chevy Malibu. We will be using all new strobe LED light bulbs from ALLA Lighting.

The Following Information shows step by step the installation instructions on how to install all new strobing LED light bulbs from ALLA Lighting in a 2013-2022 Chevy Malibu.

Step #1: Locate the stock turn signal light bulb
The reverse lights are located in the rear of the trunk.
- Begin by opening the trunk and peel back the trunk liner, to expose the bulbs.
Step #2: Remove the incandescent bulb
- Turn the scocket counterclockwise to remove the bulb.
- Pull out the incadescent bulb
Step #3: Replace bulb with the LED
- Replace stock bulb with the new strobing LED bulb
- Test out the new bulb
Step #4:
Install the new strobing LED light bulb
- Line up the tabs on the socket with the slots and housing.
- Install the socket and turn it clockwise to clock it.
- Place the trunk liner back.
Step #5: Repeat the same steps on the other side
Step #6: Identifying issues
After installing 2nd LED bulb, we noticed two common issues;
- The LED bulbs stayed dimly lit.
- Backup camera view stays on screen at all times and does not prompt back to main screen.
Step #7: Installing Resistor to solve issues (Only 1)
- Purchase a 5W 32 Ohm resistor for one side.
- Install included t-tap into white wire
- install one end of the resistor into the open hole
- Squeeze the metal tab and close the cap
- Install other t-tap onto the black wire
- Install other end of the resistor wire into the open hole
- Squeeze the metal tab and close the cap
- Zip-tie resistor out of way, this resistor is safe to be near plastic parts or wires

If the LED bulbs are experiencing any flickering, or error code issues, then load resistors for this application will be required to be installed. These issues occur due to the LEDs low current nature which draws much less current than original stock halogen bulbs.
